A large resort by Menorcan standards and one of the most established on the island . Calen Porter is situated on the south coast of the island in a magnificent setting on the cliffs above a large deep beach, It is easily accessible by both car and a local bus service. The resort itself is to be found on the clifftops on the east side of a long coastal inlet. The cliffs on the west side are undeveloped and rise steeply above the deep golden beach. The inlet is headed by a valley filled with marshland and fed by the stream called  Barranco de Cala'n Porter, which in turn feeds a large family of ducks. Access to the beach is from a winding road clearly signposted from the centre of the resort. There are however a very steep flight of steps going down the side of the cliff, although perfectly safe they should only be tackled by the young or fit members of your party, alternatively they are great for those wishing to work of those extra calories you will undoubtable gain during your holiday.

The beach itself offers a large expanse of golden sand with great safe bathing for children and with the sand running far back to the marshland it is also a superb location for a family picnic. There are both bars, restaurants and shops at beach level, also sun beds, umbrellas and pedaloes are available for hire, everything is on hand, so once you are there you should not want for anything.

The resort is truly a family resort with something for all members of the family. Hotels, Villas and Apartments provide accommodation for holidaymakers an the residents alike. Shops abound selling everything from fresh baked  pastries to souvenirs, all jostle for space with the bars and restaurants, catering for every taste. with many offering magnificent views across the bay.

There is also one establishment that not only boasts magnificent views, but is also one of the most unusual settings in Europe - The Coves of Xorio are a Cafe by day and a disco by night, they are set in a complex of natural caves offering outstanding acoustics and stunning sea views.
